The old pub building at 54 Ivy Street has come to the end of its life and we have been working for many years to transform it into a modern centre for the familes of Hoxton. We are now working in partnership with Sam Jacobs, a local architect, to bring the building to life again. We will gain a brand new, purpose built facility and he will have a self-contained home on the upper floors.
We are so excited to see the building taking shape before our eyes. We now have windows and walls going up and we can just imagine all the fun we are going to have in it. Fundraising is beginning in earnest to raise the money to fit out our space ready for the families to return. Please support us if you can by clicking on the Donate button below. Everything is on track to hand over the shell of our new home in May 2021.
Our vision for the new Centre is for a modern, accessible and welcoming space, which will comprise of the ground floor, with plenty of space to play, a kitchen which can be used for community cooking and meals, two toilets and storage for materials. The basement will have a multi-functional community room and a storage room, for the Growbaby stock of baby clothes and equipment. There will be a lift to the basement, an accessible toilet and a level entrance way.
In May 2021 we will get a 'wind and watertight' building - we then need to fit it out with all the services, fixtures and fittings.
In Lockdown 3.0 we have been unable to run our normal sessions and it just brings home to us how much we need this building to be ready to greet families when we get through this strange time. We are planning and preparing to open with sessions focussing on mental health and wellbeing and we know that our lovely new space will help us to provide what families need.
Please consider how you could help us fit out our new home ready to welcome families back in September 2021. Donations can be made by clicking on the link below.
